Facts to Know Before You Go
Be prepared for your inspection by knowing what will happen, what you should bring, and whether there’s a fee associated with your inspection. We want the process to be as smooth as possible for this important service.
What Is the Purpose of the Inspection?
Your vehicle will be inspected to document its existence, physical condition, and existing options and accessories.
What Will Take Place During the Inspection?
The CARCO inspector will complete a state-mandated inspection report form, noting the required vehicle information. The inspector will also take photographs of your vehicle (except in Florida). You will then review and sign the inspection report. Once signed, your inspector will supply you with a copy for your records. The report will also be electronically submitted to your insurance company.
What Documents Should I Bring to the Inspection Site?
No documents are required (except for Florida inspections, which require vehicle registration).
You will only need to provide the inspection site with the name of your insurance company. However, any current documents that list your insurance company name, your policy number, and vehicle information will assist in the inspection process.
Is There a Fee for the Inspection? How Long Will It Take?
There is no charge to you for the photo inspection, which takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
